Bright Hill Press Full-Length Poetry Competition 2007:
The winner of the BHP Full-Length Poetry Competition 2007 was Lucyna Prostko, Corinth, NY. Her manuscript, Infinite Beginnings, was selected by poet Joan Larkin, NY. Ms. Prostko receives $1000 and publication in the spring of 2009. Her book was featured on the Academy of American Poets National Poetry Month site in April of 2009.
Bright Hill Press Poetry Chapbook Competition 2007:
The winner of the Bright Hill Press 2007 Chapbook Competition, selected by Martin Mitchell, poetry editor of BigCityLit, and Bertha Rogers, Editor in Chief, Bright Hill Press, is Rachel Contreni Flynn, Mundelein, Illinois. Her chapbook, "Haywire," was published in the summer of 2009, and she received $300. The runner-up is Daniel Waters, West Tisbury, MA, for "Skunk Night Sonnets," which was also published in the summer. Both books were featured on the Academy of American Poets National Poetry Month website in April of 2009.
There was no chapbook competition in 2008, but the competition will be resumed in 2009; the postmark deadline is July 31. Our full-length poetry book competition postmark deadline for 2008 is closed; the 2009 competition postmark deadline will be November 30.
